Mudcats Pick Up Key Win

The Mudcats picked up a huge 5-1 home win over the St Joseph Mustangs at Shaffer Park. The game was scoreless until the 6th inning when the Mudcats broke through with a pair of runs on back to back doubles from Tyson Parks and Steve martin followed by an RBI single from Mark Robinette. Chillicothe tacked on two more runs in the 7th inning when Louis Templeton doubled and scored on an error and Parks singled and scored on another RBI hit from Robinette
After Chillicothe scored one more in the 8th, the Mustangs loaded the bases and scored a run with no one out. Mudcats relief pitcher Derek McGowan came into the game and struck out the side to preserve the win.
Chillicothe hosts Clarinda Thursday at 7:05 at Shaffer Park. The Mudcats currently in first place in a three way battle for the North Division pennant.

The Chillicothe Mudcats rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to beat the Escelsior Springs Cougars 5-3 Saturday evening and complete a sweep of three MINK League games concluded at Excelsior Springs Saturday. The Mudcats also won 9-2 and 3-0 to move back within a half-game of the lead in the league's North Division

Mudcats Falter Late, But Hold On For Win

Chillicothe, Mo. - CLARINDA, Iowa - "At this point, it doesn't really matter the way it looks. We just want to walk away with the win." Those were the parting words from Chillicothe Mudcats head coach Adam Steyer last night before climbing aboard the team bus and heading from southwest Iowa to Omaha following his team's crucial, but shaky, 7-5 MINK League victory over the Clarinda A's.

On a night when righthander pitcher Mark Robinette came within two outs of their first-ever, nine-inning no-hitter and the offense nuked Joplin pitching for a record runs total, the Chillicothe Mudcats' 20-1 home victory Friday moved them past season-long MINK League North Division leader St. Joseph and into a tie for first place in the division.
